The department regularly conducts nature education camps for the students of various departments and clubs to the national parks and wildlife sanctuaries of Kerala such as Thenmala, Periyar, Pampadum Shola, Chinnar, Muthanga, Silent Valley, Parambikulam and Aralam, in association with Kerala Forests and Wildlife department with the aim of developing environmental consciousness among the student community of the college.

The department conducts education institution visits, field trips and nature walks to reputed institutions and places with ecological or tourism importance to familiarise various concepts and opportunities related to the academic courses offered

The department conducts hands on training in flower arrangement and mushroom cultivation to students for skill training and there by equip them for self-employment

The faculty of the department serves as resource person to various training programmes, orientation programmes, career guidance, projects and awareness programmes to schools and colleges
