Details of clubs and associations functioning under the department

The Tourism Club of the Department of Tourism and Hospitality Management, St. Michael’s College, Cherthala, serves as a platform for students to enhance their knowledge, skills, and practical exposure to the tourism and hospitality industry. The club organizes various activities such as tourism awareness programs, destination promotion campaigns, industry interaction sessions, webinars, field visits, heritage walks, and celebrations of important tourism-related events. Through these initiatives, students develop leadership qualities, communication skills, teamwork, and a deeper understanding of sustainable tourism practices while actively engaging with the tourism sector.
In addition, the Tourism Club encourages students to explore emerging trends and opportunities in the tourism and hospitality industry through innovative and experiential learning activities. The club actively collaborates with industry professionals, tourism organizations, and academic institutions to conduct skill development programs, career guidance sessions, and community outreach initiatives. By fostering creativity, professionalism, and social responsibility, the club plays a significant role in preparing students to become competent tourism professionals capable of contributing to the sustainable growth and development of the tourism sector.

About the Department

The B.Voc Department was established in 2014 with the introduction of two skill-oriented undergraduate programmes: B.Voc Tourism and Hospitality Management and B.Voc Software Development. Since its inception, the department has been committed to bridging the gap between academic learning and industry requirements through a practical and application-oriented curriculum. The department strives to develop competent professionals equipped with technical expertise, innovation, and ethical values to meet the challenges of the rapidly evolving digital world.

 

About the Course

B.Voc Software Development is a three-year undergraduate programme designed to provide students with industry-relevant skills and knowledge in software development and emerging technologies. The curriculum combines theoretical foundations with extensive practical training in programming, web development, database management, mobile application development, animation, and other contemporary technologies. The programme aims to enhance employability while fostering creativity, problem-solving abilities, and entrepreneurial thinking.
To support experiential and hands-on learning, the department has well-equipped computer laboratories, including the B.Voc Software Lab, providing students with a conducive environment for technical training, project development, and research activities.
Our team of experienced and dedicated faculty members focuses not only on academic excellence but also on nurturing socially committed, innovative, and industry-ready professionals
The department strongly believes in holistic development and industry readiness. We regularly organize workshops, seminars, coding bootcamps, and training sessions to enhance technical, communication, and soft skills.
