  • Courses Offered

    As part of the FYUGP curriculum, the Department of Malayalam offers a variety of innovative and contemporary courses designed to meet the academic, creative, and professional needs of undergraduate students. The Department provides AEC (Ability Enhancement Courses),MDC (Multidisciplinary Courses),VAC (Value Added Courses) and SEC (Skill Enhancement Courses) are designed to equip students with practical skills, ethical awareness, communication abilities, and career-oriented competencies relevant to contemporary society and emerging professional fields. Malayalam Department offers three-credit courses with a total workload of four hours per week, comprising two hours of practicum and two hours of theory.

    Program Specific Outcomes (PSO)

    PSO 1

    Students develop the ability to appreciate various genres of Malayalam literature and understand their historical growth and evolution.

    PSO 2

    Students become familiar with theoretical and aesthetic domains of knowledge, enabling them to engage in literary appreciation and critical analysis while also developing motivation for creative writing.

    PSO 3

    Students acquire knowledge about diverse literary forms and revise their existing perceptions through deeper understanding. They also develop the ability to identify, read, and critically evaluate literary works.

    PSO 4

    Students gain the capacity to undertake in-depth study of language, literature, and cultural studies and to engage in academic writing and research. The program also creates a foundation for interdisciplinary approaches and strengthens linguistic knowledge and language application skills.

    PSO 5

    Students apply methodologies of cultural studies in literary analysis and develop an aptitude for research and scholarly inquiry.

    PSO 6

    Through field visits and study tours related to the subject, students gain experiential understanding of Kerala’s cultural and aesthetic diversity. The program also provides opportunities to participate in cultural forums and academic discussions.

    PSO 7

    Students acquire language proficiency connected to practical life situations and develop the competence required to appear for competitive examinations, including national-level civil service examinations.

    PSO 8

    The study of language, literature, and culture helps students develop an awareness of universal human values and enables them to understand land, people, and history from a broader perspective.
